Centralia Public Library hosting pet adoption event

A representative of one Centralia institution is trying to make a difference in the lives of her four-legged and two-legged friends.

Sadiqa Saleh, adult non-fiction and reference librarian for the Centralia Public Library, is working with the CPL to hold a pet adoption event, 11 a.m., Saturday, June 19 at the library.

The event is planned to build of the theme of the CPL’s summer reading program, Tails and Tales, said Amy Hopkins, DPL director. “It will help promote our summer reading program and hopefully unite some of our patrons with four-legged friends who need a forever home.”

Saleh, herself a animal lover who has five pets:  a horse named Surrab, five Sheep – Copper; Penny, Baby, Midnight and Pine Needle, two dogs – Tucker and Sarah, and one cat –Luna, is working with are veterinary clinics, animal shelters and groomers to bring plenty of pets-to-be and pet related services to the event.

“Sadiqa has spoken with several pet-related businesses who will be setting up tents and booths in our open lot behind the library,” Hopkins said. “There may also be a petting zoo.”
