Centralia’s Senior Center is on its way back!
After five and a-half months of being closed, the Senior Center, at the corner of Allen and West Burton will be opening soon.
And when it does, fans and patrons will be treated to the sight of cleaner, brighter senior center interior with a completely remodeled kitchen, said Debi Ball president of the center’s board of directors.
“We’ve remodeled the kitchen, somebody donated new, better cabinets, we’ve got a new grease trap and handwashing sink and everything has been inspected and we are up to county code,” Ball said. “We’ve got stainless steel counters and a stainless-steel kitchen island. It will be much easier to keep clean and disinfected.”
Ball said upon the opening, scheduled for mid-September, they will be start with a different schedule.
Ball said the final Columbia Boone County Health Department inspection was held the afternoon of August 24. “We were feeling pretty confident about that,” she said. “And we passed. l still have to learn the new rules from county health.”
