The 80-plus -member congregation of the Cornerstone Baptist Church is hosting its annual noon Christmas dinner at the church on Centralia’s Fairgrounds St., Christmas day.
Cornerstone Pastor Marcus Blair said it is the church’s way of giving back and helping community togetherness.
“It is our way of offering a place for the community to gather on the holiday,” Blair said.
“It saddens us to think there are those who have no family to celebrate with, or no dinner to attend. Christmas can be very lonely and depressing for some. Cornerstone wants to extend friendship and the Christmas spirit to all in the Centralia area by providing this meal and hopefully bring joy into people’s lives.”
The Christmas menu includes will be having turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, rolls – all the usual holiday meal fare. The church has provided the meal for many years at no cost to the community. Local grocery stores and individuals often donate food items and can do so again this year.”
Blair said the church is accepting donations to help defray the cost of the dinner. He also asks those planning to attend RSVP by contacting him at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 918-658-4676
Congregation member will be preparing the meal’s final touches Christmas morning, he said.
“will be working at the church all Christmas morning to prepare and we will eat with our guests, which is always fun and enjoyable. It is a sacrifice of time, but it brings us a lot of joy to meet and eat with our neighbors and friends in Centralia. I as pastor am always pleased and humbled to see our church be a blessing in this way! It’s what Jesus would do.”
