There is a new shop in the area for those who want their pets to look and feel their very best.
Angelika Shirley opened Pampered Paws one year ago and has been gradually ramping the business up to where she wants it.
And now the pink interior walls are up, the new flooring down and the echoes of happy hounds echo throughout the building.
Shirley is happy pampering peoples’ pets, but it has been a long road getting there for the mother of four and grandmother of three.
Shirley’s path to Pampered Paw includes retiring as a registered medical assistant/polysomnography technician and a stint at owning her own bar and grill.
Originally from DeWitt Missouri, she grew up in Brunswick, which she fondly recalls “is the pecan capital of Missouri.”
Bathing, grooming, nail-trimming, if it has to do with dogs looking better, Shirley is passionate about it, and the animals as well.
It is more than just a job. Her love for our four-legged friends shines through in almost any conversation with her.
“I have always had a love for animals and my job gives me the opportunity to know all different types of animals and care for them,” she said after a meeting where she agreed to help find a young Yorkie pup a new home. “I volunteer for Saving Dogs 4 Paws at a time Rescue and Moberly Animal Shelter…
