Charles Edward Dollens

Charles Edward Dollens, 75, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Mr. Dollens was born on February 1, 1948 in Mexico, the son of William Leslie and Hattie (Pulis) Dollens.  On June 7, 1969 he married Cheryl Lynn Crump who preceded him in death on January 1, 2004.  To this marriage he was blessed with two children, Dale “Eddie” Dollens and Kimberly “Kimmy” Dollens.  He was also blessed to share 10 plus years with Carol Dollens who passed in June of 2021.

Charlie was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to hunt, fish, watch wildlife and spend time in nature.  Charlie was a lifetime NRA member and loved all things that celebrated this country.  He was proud of his military service and his family legacy of service to this country.

Survivors include his sidekick and his ride or die buddy, “Chaz”; one son, Eddie (Sarah) Dollens of Auxvasse; one daughter, Kimmy Dollens of Columbia; two brothers, Jerry Dollens of Columbia and Howard Dollens of Mexico; four sisters, Sara Lou King of St. Louis, Linda Nichols of South Carolina, Virginia Dollens-Foy of Mexico and Rebecca Babaoff of Ashville, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Katherine Marie Dollens Scherry of Columbia and Alyson Marie Dollens Scherry of Macon; one great-granddaughter, Madalynne “Maddie” Rose Scherry; one very special nephew Greg Dollens of Springfield, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close family members.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters and one grandson Zachary, who shared his grandfather’s birthday.

In lieu of flowers, it was Charlie’s request that memorial donations be made to New Hope Baptist Church, Hopewell Baptist Church or the NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.

Charlie loved plants and would appreciate any trees that are planted in his memory.
