Connie Faye Harper, 77, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away August 3, 2024, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, in Carrollton, Mo. surrounded by her loving family.
Connie was born December 15, 1946, in Festus, Missouri, daughter of Chester and Anna Mae (King) Tidball. On October 11, 1968, she was married to Douglas Lee Harper for 22 years and was blessed with two children.
Connie worked as a bookkeeper for Shelter Insurance, early in life, and worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s company D & J Enterprises for many years. She was actively involved on their farm and worked as a clerk for the Tina Livestock Auction. She then moved on as an office manager in the nursing home field working her way to become the Administrator at the nursing home in Ashland, Missouri. After several years, Connie went to work for Mail and More in Millersburg, Missouri, before she retired and moved back to Carrollton, Missouri where her home and yard “project” became her full-time enjoyment.
Connie loved gardening, crocheting, sewing and “Tinkering in the Shop” on different projects. She had a special gift for making these projects come together and enjoyed helping others. Even in her weakest time, she still found it rewarding to volunteer at Help Services in Carrollton, Missouri. Connie loved to cook, which she had learned from her grandma King. One of her specialties was planning festive holidays, games, and events. When the opportunity arose to dress up to portray a character, Connie was all in. She loved any opportunity to get a chuckle. Connie had an eager desire for bowling, NASCAR, puzzles, and anything to do with her grandkids, who also knew her as “G-MA.” She especially enjoyed the “32” Chevy that her father fully restored and gave to her. She loved to give rides and tell the story of her “daddy” and the “32”. Connie was a very good organizer, and those who knew her, knew she had a place for everything. She loved her many cats over the years, along with sitting and reminiscing with friends.
Mrs. Harper is survived by a son Dwight Harper and his wife Cindy, Tina, Missouri; a daughter, Dawnese Harper, Columbia, Missouri; two brothers, Darrell Tidball, Hallsville, Missouri and Dwayne Tidball, Harrisburg, Missouri; four grandchildren, Dyllon Harper and wife Bri, Jaxon Harper, Landon Harper, and Drenon Harper. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Carolyn Ann Tidball.
The family will receive friends on Thursday August 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bittiker Funeral Homes in Carrollton, Missouri.
A private burial will be held at a later time in the Glendale Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Centralia, Missouri.
The family suggest contributions to the Help Services of Carrollton which may be left at the funeral home.
