Danny Lee Rice, 75, Sturgeon, MO, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 15, 1947, in Columbia, MO the son of the late Orville and Lola (Hall) Rice. On March 25, 1971, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann (Mason) Rice.
In addition to his wife Judy of 52 years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons Jerry Lee Rice and his wife Jenifer of Auxvasse, MO and William Travis Rice and his fiancé Tina of Garnavillo, IA; one daughter Denise Marie Nichols and her husband Marc of Harrisburg, MO; one brother Darrell Rice and his wife Debbie of Rocheport, MO; one sister Marilyn Wiyrick of Columbia, MO; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, one brother Jerry Orville Rice and one sister JoAnn House preceded him in death.
Danny served his country in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1973. He worked as a driver for O.A.T.S. and assisted transportation. He was a member of American Legion Post 80 and enjoyed woodworking, country music, westerns, collecting hot wheels and rocks. He loved word search puzzles, listening to the bible being read and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO with Military Honors. A family remembrance will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Sturgeon, MO. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the Oliver Funeral Home in Sturgeon, MO.
