Donald E. Hildebrand, 89, of Mexico, passed away Saturday November 19, 2022, at Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Hobbs officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Donald was born on November 14, 1933, in Laddonia. He was the son of John Martin and Inez Verna (Lewis) Hildebrand. On September 28, 2007, in Branson, he married Barbara L. Seymour Rooney. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2021.
Donald was a veteran of the US Army. He served during the Korean War.
He worked as a truck driver most of his career. He drove for Oliver Trucking, Callaway Carriers, and his own trucking company. He had also worked at A.P. Green and National Refractories.
He was a member of First Christian Church and the American Legion 624 in Laurie, Missouri. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Beth Jennings, of Denton, Texas; two step daughters, Jama Rooney, and Janice Mamie, both of the Kansas City area; one step son, Jon Taylor, also of the Kansas City area; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife Barbara, he was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and Douglas Hildebrand; four brothers, Lewis, Kenneth, Vancill, and Rolland Hildebrand; and five sisters, Margaret Glover, Nellie Jean Cornelison, LeOra Zike, Betty Goslin, and Rosemary Reese.
