Funfest runs June 13-15
Hallsville’s Funfest is returning.
The 2024 Hallsville Funfest is scheduled for Thursday June 13 through Saturday June 15.
As in year’s past, there will be 4-H and Youth Arts in the Hallsville Fairgrounds Bob Lemone Bldg., a variety of livestock shows in the Fairgrounds’ pole barns and horse shows at the arena.
The Elkin Shelter will host the pedal pull and the watermelon eating contest and the royalty contest and baby show.
One change, said FunFest volunteer Honey Wehmeyer, is there will not be a beef show this year. It will be replaced by a dairy goat show.
“It has something fun for the entire family. Wholesome good times, animals and free entertainment,” Wehmeyer said when asked what keeps people coming to the Funfest every June.
Fellow organizer Elaine George said there will be at least one new event at the Funfest, a watermelon eating contest.
“Everybody loves watermelon,” George said. “The contest is open to all ages.”
