The Sturgeon Bulldogs spent a rainy Saturday afternoon playing basketball at Hallsville High School’s west gym.
Unfortunately for fans of the blue and white the results of the boys and girls varsity games against Hallsville may have only brought holiday cheer to Hallsville fans.
The Lady Indians beat Sturgeon 60-20.
The Indians boys won 64-29.
In the girls game, Hallsville lead throughout. The score by quarters was 26-9 at the end of the first; 39-13 at halftime; 52-16 at the end of the third and 60-20 Hallsville at the end.
The Lady Indians are now 6-3 and the Lady Bulldogs are 0-8.
Avery Oetting led Hallsville with 16 points, followed by Emily Leer with 12 and Hope Crane with nine.
Alayna Hall led Sturgeon with 11 followed by Cade McMorris wit six and
Nicole Vanlandingham with three.
On the boys side, Sturgeon was competitive early, by the end of the first Hallsville led 17-9. At halftime the Indians were up 39-22. Then Hallsville pulled away finishing the third up 55-25 and from there they ended the fourth with a 64-29 win.
Hallsville is now 5-4 and Sturgeon 5-3.
Clayton Cook led Hallsville with a game-high 19 points, followed by Jalen George with 12 and Cooper Crane with 10.
Logan Flaspohler led Sturgeon with 6. He was backed up by Jacob Brooks, Jace Woods and Jake Snider, who had five each.
