Hallsville loses to Southern Boone

The Hallsville Indians lost 53-24 at Southern Boone.

The game seemed likely to be a shootout early as the Eagles took a 7-0 lead on an 18 yard pass play at 9:37 on the opening drive. Hallsville responded on the first play from scrimmage with a 65-yard touchdown catch by Zach Jouret. Jouret caught the two-point conversion for a Hallsville lead 8-7.

Less than a minute later Southern Boone answered with a 36-yard touchdown run. The conversion failed but they moved back to the lead 13-8.

Zach Jouret had six catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns against Southern Boone.

Hallsville moved downfield and Brayden Matheney hooked up with Jouret for a 10-yard touchdown. Isaac Stinson caught the two point conversion giving the Indians a 16-13 lead.

Southern Boone went downfield and connected on a four-yard pass for a touchdown. The kick was good for a 20-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter Hallsville failed to convert on fourth and goal from the four yard line. The Eagles went on a 97-yard march that ended with a 15-yard touchdown. The conversion failed for a 26-16 lead.

Hallsville offense couldn’t get untracked and the Eagles scored two more touchdowns to go into the half leading 40-16.

Hallsville had the ball to open the third quarter but Southern Boone intercepted a pass and returned it for a 55-yard touchdown putting the Eagles up 47-16.

Hallsville managed to move the ball but were unable to score. At the 3:43 mark Isaac Stinson intercepted a pass that he returned 40 yards for a touchdown. Xavier Stinson caught the conversion for a score of 47-24.

Southern Boone answered back with a 46-yard touchdown pass at the 2:13 mark of the third. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter ending with a final score of 54-24.

Matheny was 19 of 32 passing for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Abe El-Fenaish had 19 carries for 104 yards. Jouret had six catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Dalvin Smith had five and a half tackles, Xavier Stinson had five tackles and Jouret had four and a half.

After seven weeks of road games, Hallsville will open their new stadium this Friday when they host Blair Oaks.
