The board has spoken.
The Hallsville R-IV School District, contrary to some predictions, will not be switching to a four-day school week for the 2020-21 school year.
The split decision was made during a special board meeting held Tuesday, Feb. 4.
This statement issued by the district’s board of education sums it up.
“The Hallsville Board of Education met Tuesday night in special session to discuss the 2020-2021 school calendar. The four-day school calendar was not approved in a 4-3 vote. The board believes that it is something that they will continue to explore. Right now, they are still seeking answers on the potential academic impact of our students as well as the potential impact of our high-risk and free and reduced students. They also believe that it is in the best interest of our district…”
