A decades-old Centralia traditions continues, but could use a little help.
Friday and Saturday, October 13 -14, the Centralia United Methodist Church annual coat giveaway will be open for business. Coats and other cold-weather outer-wear will be distributed under the church’s awning from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 and 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday,
Oct. 14.
But organizers say the coat-closet’s pickings might be a little thin.
“These last two years have been record years for coat distribution,” Linda Crigler, one of the drive’s organizers said. “Each year we have given away more than 200 coats along with assorted gloves, scarves and hats. Our distributions are beginning to exceed donations.”
At least one group is stepping up to help.
