Georgia Ellen (Briedwell) McLean, age 102, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed immediately by a funeral service at Red Top Christian Church in Hallsville. A graveside service will take place in Red Top Cemetery, where Georgia will be laid to rest next to her husband.

She was born in Schuyler County, Missouri on September 29, 1920, to Leslie and Achsah (Tallman) Briedwell. Georgia was united in marriage to Cyrus Benjamin “CB” McLean on October 10, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1995.

Georgia held many jobs throughout her life, but they all centered around helping others. She was a teacher; she worked at the bank in Hallsville; in later years, she volunteered with the Hallsville Historical Society. She was very active with Red Top Christian Church and was the very first female deacon in the church’s history. “Aunt Georgie,” as she was known to her beloved nieces and nephews, was an enthusiastic card player and loved a trip to Dollar General or Dollar Tree.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Max Briedwell; niece, Janet Eiceman; and nephew, Dick Briedwell. Georgia is survived by her nephew Larry Briedwell, seven great nieces and nephews, many great-great-nieces and nephews and numerous great-great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom dearly loved Aunt Georgie and she loved them in return.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Georgia’s memory may be made to Red Top Christian Church, 14355 North St U, Hallsville, Missouri 65255. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. Share memories and condolences with the family online at www.memorialfuneralhomeandcemetery.com.
