Michael Alan Kinkead, 61, of Centralia, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, after a battle with cancer.
Family and friends are invited to Mike’s visitation from 4:00–8:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the Centralia Recreation Center.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Friendship Christian Church in Centralia.
Michael was born on January 1, 1962, to Roscoe and Mary Catherine Kinkead in Columbia, Missouri. After graduating from Centralia High School, he went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology at St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
After marrying Wendy Walters on October 23, 1987, Mike began working with his father at Kinkead Pharmacy. Through many years of laughter, jokes, broken bones, and adventures, they raised four boys.
Along with his wife, Wendy, Mike is survived by his sons, Brandon Kinkead and wife Amanda of Centralia, Trevor Kinkead of Centralia, Austin Kinkead of Colorado, and Carter Kinkead of Centralia; granddaughters, Elliana and Olivia Kinkead; his parents, Roscoe and Mary Catherine Kinkead of Centralia; sister, Brenda Maloney of Monroe City, nephew, Shawn Maloney and wife Kenzie of Los Angeles, CA; father and mother-in-law, Diane and Roy Walters of Osage Beach; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Jeff Montgomery of Olathe, KS; nephew and niece, Brett and Brooke Montgomery; brother-in-law, Robert Walters of Osage Beach; nieces and nephew, Campbell, Montana, and Brady Walters.
Mike was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. Mike was a family man, a devout Christian, and a businessman. He could often be found on Sundays at the pharmacy filling a script for someone. He served as an Elder to Friendship Christian Church while also being involved with youth ministry and adult Bible studies. He served as the Centralia Park Board President for over 20 years.
Mike was also passionate about nature. He loved being outside whether working on a project, hunting, or camping. Mike and Wendy recently took up kayaking as well as bike riding and disc golf. He was also an adrenaline junkie and loved scuba diving, skiing- both water and snow, and riding his motorcycle. Mike could often be found helping friends and family with numerous projects.
Anyone who knew Mike knew that he was the most loving father, husband, friend, and Pops, a family could ask for. Even through his final battle with cancer Mike’s life continued to exalt God. Mike would ask that every day you would praise God and love those around you.
