Jack A. Hargis, 90, Centralia, MO passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Centralia, MO. He was born August 23, 1933, in St. Louis, MO the son of the late John Edward Hargis and Lucinda (Sneed) Hargis. On July 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Caroline (Lahay) Hargis.
In addition to his wife Caroline of 67 years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter Christina Mollmon of Lona, OK; one sister Dorothy Null of St. Louis, MO; one grandson Christopher Sulek; nieces and nephews Mike Hargis and his wife Christy of Clark, MO, Randy Hargis and his wife Betty of Hillsboro, MO, Pam Vaughan of Columbia, MO, Tim Hargis and his wife Karrie of Kansas City, MO and Jim Richmond and his wife Kay of Hermann, MO; several great and great great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, one brother Robert Hargis and one great nephew John Edward Hargis preceded him in death.
Jack served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He first worked delivering newspapers in St. Louis, later he worked numerous odd jobs and finally he owned and operated his own dairy farm for many years in Clark, MO. He was a member of VFW Post 6276 and enjoyed playing poker, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, yard work, especially cutting grass and spending time with his friends and family.
A graveside service will be 1:30 pm Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Chapel Grove Cemetery near Clark, MO. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO.
