Jessie “Jay” Charles Guinnip, 79 of Centralia, passed away peacefully with his wife, daughter and family of caregivers at the Stuart House in Centralia on Monday, December 19, 2022.

There will be no services scheduled at this time.

Jay was born on January 8, 1943, the son of Edward and Ruby (Wilson) Guinnip.

Jay served his country in the United States Army. After his time in the service, Jay married Sandra Potter on December 6, 1968, in Centralia and she survives of the home.

Along with his wife, Sandra, Jay is survived by a son, Troy Guinnip and wife Stevyn of Arizona, a daughter, Jenae Dorman and husband Stephen of Centralia; grandchildren, Tyler, Jayden, Chase, Silas, Morgan; sister, Lorene Rosales of Florida; many nieces and nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Omar Guinnip and Roberta Guinnip.

Jay was a very proud, lifetime member of the Centralia VFW post 6276, and was very involved with the Centralia Avenue of the Flags.

Jay retired from Hubbell Powers Systems, and then went to work at Prenger’s Grocery Store, which was his favorite job.

Jay enjoyed spending time at home with his family, watching any John Wayne movie, and every episode of Gunsmoke, at least three times, tinkering with various projects, and sitting on his front porch with his dogs, visiting with neighbors and friends. Jay was a great listener, he always told Sandy, “If you have something to say, I’m Listening”.

Memorial donations are suggested to the City of Centralia for the Avenue of the Flags, or the Centralia, VFW Post 6276, and may be sent in care of Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home, 104 S. Collier St. Centralia, MO 65240.
