Joanne Meryl Bettenhausen

Joanne Meryl Bettenhausen, 87, of Centralia, passed away at Lenoir Woods Skilled Nursing in Columbia on August 18, 2022.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.

Joanne was born on June 18, 1935, in Chicago, the daughter of Herbert and Lydia Fedder.

She married Edward Bettenhausen on October 26, 1956, they were married 60 years.

Joanne is survived by two daughters, Kathy Krause of Centralia, Kara Mahieu of Centralia: grandsons, Nathaniel Mahieu, and Michael Mahieu.

Along with her husband Edward, Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a daughter, Kay Bettenhausen.

Joanne was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Centralia. She was a charter member of the Women’s Guild, and she sang in the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League, she sang in the choir, and taught Sunday school.

She attended nursing school and worked at Northwestern University Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Joanne served as a hostess at the Centralia Historical Society, and a RN consultant for local nursing homes for many years.

She was a 4-H Club Leader and a member of the Republican Committee of Boone County.
