Kurtis Lee (Rump) Smith, 39, of Mexico, passed away at 3:21 a.m. Wednesday December 7, 2022, at his home.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday December 10, 2022, at Pickering Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Suma officiating. Burial followed in the Salt River Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation was 4 – 6 p.m. Friday at Pickering Funeral Home. Friends and family are encouraged to wear a crazy beanie or hat to the visitation.
Kurtis was born January 17, 1983, in Columbia. He was the son of Curtis Lee Smith and Mary Helen Ennis. He graduated from Mexico High School in 2001. He worked as a farm hand and truck driver. He was a member of Salt River Christian Church and had also attended the Rush Hill Community Church.
Survivors include his father, Curtis Lee Smith, of Potosi, Mo.; his mother Mary Helen Ennis Williams and her husband Ron, of Mexico; one son, David Christopher Hilburn, of Mexico; two daughters, Emily Ann Smith, and Elizabeth Marie Smith, both of Mexico; six brothers, Dayton E. Durham, of Charleston, Mo., Darrell R. (Heidi) Cornwell, Shawn M. Smith, Brandon Williams, Darrell E. Williams, and Orion J. Smith, all of Mexico; two sisters, Jessie M. Williams (David Price), of Marathon, Fla., and Miranda N. Stewart, of Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Erika Renee Smith, two grandmothers, one grandfather, and one great grandmother.
