Lady Indians, Lady Panthers clash in District semi-final

It was a high-energy contest between two high-energy teams.

Hallsville’s Lady Indians and Centralia’s Lady Panthers clashed Wednesday night on Hallville’s home court for the right to play for the district championship.

Hallsville came out  on top.

Emily Leer opened the game, scoring the first five points before Elly Crum scored for Centralia.

Then Leer answered with another basket, followed by Avery Oetting, followed by a Leer three-point shot.

It was 12-2 Hallsville before Centralia, courtesy of Crum, scored again.

The first quarter ended 17-4, Hallsville.

They stayed ahead of Centralia for the whole game, 30-17 at halftime, 43-30 at the top of the fourth and they finished the game and won the right to play Macon for the district championship, 55-37.

Crum led Centralia with 15 points, followed by Claire Bennet with 11 and Harper Sontheimer with five.

Getting led Hallsville with 15, followed by Leer with 12 and Rachel Hargis with 11.

Hallsville plays Macon Friday night for the district championship at an as yet to be decided location.
