Lady Indians play for the District Championship

Posted on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 4:10 am

Hallsville beats Kirksville, 52-36

They did it.

For the first time since 2012, the Hallsville Lady Indians have won a district basketball championship.

Though the Lady Indians led every quarter, Kirksville gave them and their fans a scare.

In the second quarter, Kirksville’s switch-screen defense helped them chainsaw Hallsville’s 15-point lead to three.

That was the closest Kirksville got. Hallville led every quarter: 17-2 at the end of the first; 23-18 at halftime; 35-28 going into the fourth. The Lady Indians won, 52-36

Avery Oetting led Hallsville and the game with 16 points. Kristn Jones backed her up with 14 and Chloe Quintana scored eight.

Julia Porter led Kirksville with nine.

Tuesday, 6 p.m., March 8, the 21-7 Lady Indians play 20-4 Orchard Farms at Troy Buchanan High School
