The Centralia Lady Panthers and Montgomery County Lady Wildcats met at North Callaway High School Friday night playing for the Class 3, District 7 Championship in front of a capacity crowd. Centralia won the tip and went straight to work with Braylin Brunkhorst hitting a jump stop for 2 in the lane. After an empty trip on the Wildcat end Ryenn Gordon would find Shelby Lewis with a bounce pass to score from the block. 90 seconds in and Centralia was out front 4-0. Gordon would be on the receiving end of the next pass scoring her first field goal before Raegan Anderson would put the Lady Panthers up 8-0. Montgomery was forced into a timeout to the cheers of the Centralia fans. MC was finally able to get on the board with 2:06 on the first period clock but Lewis would answer that score with another Centralia 2. Braylin Brunkhorst then picked off a pass near half court, pushing it up court to Gordon putting up a shot that missed but ended up in Morgan Ross’ hand to score as the buzzer sounded, 14-3 Centralia and a quarter of the way to a title… For more, see next week’s edition of the Centralia Fireside Guard.
