Central took home second- and third-plac honors from the Harrisburg tournament last week.
Second place — The Centralia Lady Panthers boys earned second place, losing to Hallsville in the championship game, 63-57. They got there by beating Harrisburg, 50-29 and Tolton, 47-32.
Third place — The Centralia Panthers boys team won third by beating Fayette, 72-67 and MMA, 55-82, after losing to Fulton, 48-45
Against Fayette, Grant Erisman led Centralia with 21 points.
Jackson Wells and Kile Chitwood supported him with 15 each. Nathan Greene scored 11.
Klye Schlepper led the game and Fayette with 31.
Centralia led all four quarters, 18-11 in the first, 31-30 at halftime and 48-40 at the end of the third before taking the win – 72-67.
Leading the Lady Panthers against a very scrappy, physical, Hallsville team, Baylee Beard led Centralia with 13 points, supported by Claire Bennett with 12. Harper Sontheimer and Annie Robinson scored seven each.
Avery Oetting led Hallsville with 16 points. Emily Leer and Kirsten Jones had 10 each for Hallsville. Taylor Jones and Lauren Proctor scored nine.
Hallsville led the entire game: 16-15 in the first, 33-25 at halftime, 47-35 at the top of the top of the fourth, before stretching their lead to win, 67-53.
