He began his military service in 1964 when he joined the National Guard. While enlisted, Larry and Kay moved to Georgia before returning to Missouri and settling down in Sturgeon to raise a family. Larry worked at Panhandle Eastern Pipeline several years before joining Pemberton-Bryson Real Estate, which later became Bryson-Clementz Real Estate and ultimately became Larry Clementz Real Estate as it continues today with his son Jeff.
Larry enjoyed farming, raising cattle and raising five kids. Being an only child, Larry took great pride in his large family. He considered his children and grandchildren to be his greatest accomplishment. He devoted much of his time to ensuring his kids had the support, guidance, and love they needed to be successful in life. He boasted about his family with anyone he met. You would find Larry and Kay at all their children’s and grandchildren’s events. He was a Sturgeon 4-H horsemanship leader, he started the golf program at Sturgeon High School and was president of the school board for several years. He was a lover of westerns and cowboys ever since he was a boy, Larry maintained this interest in later years by spending evenings watching a mix of old episodes of Gunsmoke and new episodes of Yellowstone.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Boone County Cattleman’s Association and may be sent in care of Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home, 104 S. Collier St. Centralia, MO 65240.
