Larry Wayne Sweezer of Salina, Kansas, and formerly of Centralia, Missouri, passed away peacefully, at the age of 77 on October 29, 2024. He was born on September 24, 1947, as the firstborn child of I.N. and Dorothy (Powers) Sweezer, who preceded him in death. His daughter, Kristie, also preceded him in death.
Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruby, sons Jeffrey and Douglas (Jacqulyn), stepson Alex (Barb), brothers Claude (Sherri) and Ivan (Nancy), sisters Dorothy Stout and Brenda Maxwell (Phil), and many grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
At 19, Larry enlisted in the Army and spent one of his three years of active duty serving in combat in Vietnam with the 1st Air Calvary Division. After that, he joined the National Guard in which he served for over 20 more years before retiring.
He will be interred at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas, following a service with military honors at 1:00 pm, November 21.
