The City of Centralia and one of its police officers are being sued by William C. Garcia of Mexico who alleges the city and the department violiated his civil rights when the CPD arrested him in connection with a local burglary.
Garcia., who the Centralia Police Department had considered a suspect in the July 2019 burglary and theft of an estimated $10,000 from Centralia’s Dos Arcos restaurant, was arrested after questioning in the Centralia Police Department in August 2019.
His sister, Ana Garcia described what she said happened next on her GoFundMe page.
“On August 27, 2019 Willy Garcia went into Centralia Police department to answer some questions and was wrongfully arrested that day. What led after this day was months of constant obstacles, setback, disappointments, but at the end, resilience to fight for justice and overall the truth. Willy was held in Boone County Jail for 4 months…
