Luther Carl Henderson, Jr. was born in Centralia,Mo., Feb. 4, 1943 to L.C. and Mary Belle Henderson.
Celebrating his arrival Dad L.C. erected a huge banner to fly over his service station, reading “Free Drinks, It’s a BOY, Little Available”!
Carl graduated from Centralia High School, and Kirksville State Teachers College. As he began his first year of teaching in Mexico, Mo. he was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served in Viet Nam.
He returned to Centralia and lived there until his passing on October 4. He chose to battle colon cancer privately and died at Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Mo. There will be no funeral service at Carl’s request.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister,Cleva Crockett and is survived by sister Ann Cook, Oklahoma City, Ok., and several nieces and nephews.
