Mary E. McCubbins

Mary E. McCubbins, 87, the daughter of the late Floyd J. and Hazel B. (Eddy) Freudenthal, went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2023.  She passed away at Boone Hospital surrounded by her children.

Mary was born on May 3, 1936, in Charlton, MA, and was raised in Massachusetts.  Mary was an identical twin with her sister Marilyn.  She moved to California with her family in 1952.  She married JC McCubbins on June 2, 1956, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Newhall, CA by Pastor John C. Weston.  She returned to Missouri in 1962.  Mary was a home maker for 20 years then worked for Woodhaven Learning Center before retiring in 1990.  She spent her retirement in Sunrise Beach, MO.  She and her husband, Jay, moved to Centralia in 2016 to live closer to their family.

Mary enjoyed caring for foster children, hosting foreign students, and volunteering.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, traveling and spending many memorable hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She gave a lot of her time to her church serving as Sunday School teacher, WMU, Choir member and volunteer for Operation Christmas Child.

Mary is survived by her loving husband (J.C.) of 67 years; sisters, Marilyn Chase of Newhall, CA, Joyce Overbaugh of Oak View, CA; brother, Floyd D. Freudenthal (Candy) of Medford, OR; sons, Jay McCubbins (Margie) of College Place, WA, Jeffrey McCubbins (Lisa) of Mexico, MO; daughters, June Kelly (Greg) of Sturgeon, MO, and Jill McCoy (Roger) of Centralia, MO.  Mary also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her sister, Judith Cook of Boise, Idaho, and parents, Floyd J. and Hazel B (Eddy) Freudenthal of Oak View, CA preceded her in death.

Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, August 4, 2023, at Grandview Baptist Church, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 AM.  The burial will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery.
