There is a smiling new face in the picture of Centralia’s senior-care business.

Christina Redmond has been hired as Heritage Hall’s new administrator.

She has been at the 60 -bed facility for three weeks now and said she is there for the long-haul.

Redmond sees nursing homes as an essential part of any community and hopes to be involved in this one.

“Community involvement is key to me, she said. “I believe, since we are all a part of the community we should involve and support one another. I look forward to learning about some of the community events that we can be more active with.”

Redmond’s is not an easy job, overseeing what many industry observers call “a family’s most precious treasure,” their older relatives.

When asked how she would describe her job to a seventh-grade student, Redmond said.

“I work at a facility where we teak care of the elderly on a long-term basis… Anything they need, that they can’t do on their own, we take care of for them.”

Eldercare has been a life-long profession for Redmond.

“I began my working years as a certified nursing assistant, a CAN, in a long-term care facility outside Hannibal. I climbed the career ladder to become a nurse and now to an administrator. I have spent most of my working years in long term care.”

Many things drive her passion for the profession.
