Abby’s Quilt Shop opens on Highway 22 East

There’s a new business in town and it supports the fond memories and traditions of many families.

Centralia-area native, Abby Sudbrock welcomed all comers to Centralia’s newest business, Abby’s Quit Shop for its grand opening Friday, March 19 at Highway 22 strip mall.

She has opened her shop in the storefront next to REMAX on the Move.

In a way the sweet-smelling, peaceful feeling shop is a homage to Sudbrock’s maternal grandmother Beverly

Sudbrock remembers sewing quilts as an eighth-grade member of the F&L Hustlers 4-H Club. When in eighth-grade, Sudbrock was sewing a quilt in her parents’ basement on their family farm northeast of Centralia.

“Grandmother was helping me, but I was sewing down in the basement,” Abby said. “She couldn’t climb stairs and I had to bring my quilt up to her so she could inspect it… It wasn’t a very big quilt, orange and pink.”

Sudbrock moved away from quilting as she progressed through school and 4-H turned to FFA.
