The Centralia Panthers volleyball team’s 2019 season ended tonight during the first round of the district championships, hosted by Centralia High School.
They lost to Mexico in two sets, 25-22 and 25-20.
Centralia was competitive in both sets, tying the Bulldogs several times in the firs set and leading them by as many as seven points in the second.
“We were concerned about their serving,” Bulldogs Coach Eric Wulf said. “They can be very powerful and accurate. They also had some strong middle hitters we were wary of.”
In the end, said Sofia Lippmann, Centralia head volleyball coach, her team could not muster the same ferocity and competitiveness they showed in practice when they were on the court. “We did not show our energy tonight and we had a few more errors than we were supposed to and Mexico took that to their advantage.”
