Panther wrestlers grabbing wins at state championships, in second place overall

The Centralia Panthers wrestling team took seven of 10 matches during the Thursday morning opening session of the state high school wrestling championships.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, as a team, they are in second place.

Whitfield leads the race for the state championship with 34 points. Centralia is in second with 30 points and Mid-Buchanan is at third with 29.5.

Brayden Dubes beat Tucker Tracey, Lawson of Lawson, 12-0

Gabe Maenner lost to Kannen Wilson of Versailles, 7-5

Jesse Shannon pinned Benjamin Carter of Whitfield

Brayden Shelton pinned Lucas Arias of Maplewood

Kyden Wilkerson beat Xavier Lane of Brentwood, 2-0

Austin Dawson lost to Butch Walters, Mid-Buchanan, 8-6

Anthony Stevens was pinned by Brodie Payne of Knob Noster

Grafton Littrell beat Gage Wright of Gallatin, 11-7

Trevor Bodine pinned Seth Cruz of Mid-Buchannan

Sam Lynn pinned Dominic Ruggeri of Bishop DuBourg.

Maenner, Dawson and Stevens will wrestle again this afternoon in the wrestle backs.

Maenner and Dawson won their wrestle back matches and will wrestle again Friday.

Stevens lost his and is done.

Of the 10 wrestlers Centralia brought to the championships, nine are still competing.
