Members of the Centralia Board of Aldermen held dual committee meetings the evening of February 8, along with a brief full board meeting.
During the full board meeting they heard a program and proposal from Erle Bennett, director of the Centralia Parks Department. As part of his plan for improving the Centralia Community Golf Course he asked the aldermen’s support in applying for a grant from the Land and Water Fund Conservation Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Interior, National Park Service.
Heather Russell, Centralia city administrator, said the aldermen unanimously passed a resolution giving their support.
The grant would help fund the removal and replacement of the golf course clubhouse to the tune of $274,000, with the City of Centralia’s contribution funding the rest.
After the meeting, Bennett clarified that for the Centralia Fireside Guard. “Our match is all the donations and shares used by the city and the park department to purchase the property.”
