Pastor’s Desk: ‘Talk to God’

Prayer is a vital part of our Christian walk. Our life as followers of Jesus starts with a prayer and it is something that we should be doing constantly. Whether it is asking for God’s blessing over the day, praying for someone we care about, facing a major decision, or asking our Lord to open someone’s eyes before it is to late.

“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Paul is telling the church in Thessalonica and us that we need to be rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks. This can be hard at times and we may question if God is hearing us. I want you to know that God does hear your prayers and He wants you to keep calling out to Him.

“God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you. I thirst for you; my body faints for you in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.” – Psalm 63:1

David, even with his flaws, understood that God wanted to hear from him. David prayed for the future, for protection from enemies, cried out in pain, and begged for forgiveness. David was an example of prayer for us.

God is eagerly waiting to hear from us! He loves hearing our voice in the morning when we wake up. He hears us, even when we are so busy that our prayers last a matter of seconds. He hears us when we are celebrating, He hears us when we are crying, God wants to hear from us!
