Pastor David Hargrove, Crossroad Cathedral Assembly of God
The questions that we have concerning suffering are not new, they are only different in scope and variety. We believe in God and we believe in His Word and we believe that the only way of salvation is through trust in the all sufficient sacrifice of the Lord Jesus upon the Cross.
Yet, in spite of our faith, we still question, why do so many experience so much suffering?
It would be easy to give glib answers such as blaming the fall of man or blaming people who are suffering or blaming entities such as political but that doesn’t really help and it doesn’t give an answer as to why suffering?
Suffering is as old as man himself. Adam and Eve suffered the loss of the garden, fellowship with God and two sons, one murdered by the other. Accounts of suffering in numerous ways continue all throughout the Bible. Does this mean that God delights or takes pleasure in the suffering of His children or of man? No, God takes no delight or happiness in watching His children or anyone in mankind suffer.
