December 17 through January 21, those are the dates when qualified candidates may file for the race to fill three open slots on the Centralia R-VI School Board.
That was one of a few things discussed during the board’s 45-minute open session the evening of November 11 at the Centralia Intermediate School Library.
Attendance was sparse, only 11 people, mostly district employees, attended the meeting.
Regarding the board race, Steven Chancellor, R-VI superintendent, said the terms of board members Justin Romine, Jason Hedrick and Erle Bennett will be up.
Chancellor also presented the district’s monthly financial update.
Fiscally, he said, “the district is right where it needs to be.” That included, he said, an additional $85,000 income due to a statewide settlement with Ameren UE.
Regarding expenditures, he said, balances would “be out of whack” for a few more meetings as he instructed staff on re-coding expenditures to yield a more understandable picture of how the district is spending its money.
The district’s fund balance for the month of October was 22 percent, $3,164,445 for Funds 1 and II and 27 percent, $3,865,112 if Fund IV is included.
Fund 1, he said is the district’s discretionary fund, Fund II – for teachers’ salaries and Fund IV – for capital improvements.
Total revenues for October were $3,000,027, and total expenditures were $3,672,154.
