Robert L “Bob” Curnutte, Sr.

Robert L. “Bob” Curnutte, Sr. 87, Columbia, MO passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 19, 1936, in Radnor, West Virginia, the son of the late Benjamin F. and Stella (Rice) Curnutte. Bob graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne, WV, later he attended Echols College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia, PA and he studied and took several courses at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Helen P. (Pat) Curnutte on September 24, 1955, in the First Methodist Church in Wayne, WV.

In addition to his wife Pat of 68 years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son Robert L. Curnutte, Jr. of Columbia, MO; one daughter Cynthia Neff and her husband Steve of Columbia, MO; two grandchildren Mason Neff and Meagan Pruett; two great grandchildren Nora Neff and Leah Neff; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, three brothers preceded him in death.

Bob first worked as a funeral director and embalmer for several funeral homes in three different states. Later he worked as an administrator of several nursing homes and finally was the Chairman of the Virginia Health Care Association.  He was a member of the Optimist Club and the Tennessee Society of St. Louis. He enjoyed tennis, golf, reading, travelling, and spending time with his friends, family and his dog.

Graveside services will be 3:30 pm Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Sturgeon, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturay, January 27, 2024, at the Oliver Funeral Homem in Sturgeon, MO.
