Editor’s note, This this year’s Centralia Friend of the Park Breakfast with Santa, during which 12 volunteers cooked 48 pounds of sausage patties and and 30 pounds of pancake mix to raise $1,000 for the organization to adopt to large Centralia families for Christmas, Santa and Mrs. Claus took a few moments to give an exclusive interview to the Fireside Guard.

Here are some excerpts from that conversation.

Hello Santa — Keegan and Karsyn Barnes were among that at least 100 children who got to visit with Santa the morning of December 7 at Chester Boren Middle School, during the annual Centralia Friends of the Park Pancake Breakfast.

How did you and Mrs. Claus meet?

“I was getting old and having trouble getting all over the world the night before  Christmas. So I was shopping for some reindeer,” Santa said. “Mrs. Claus owns a reindeer farm. It was love at first sight for me, but I had to ask her to go out with me three times before she would and even then I had to bribe her with hot coco.”

Do you have favorite reindeer?

“No, like the children, I love them all equally.”

What is Santa’s favorite food?

“Milk and chocolate chip cookies, of course.”

What does Santa do for fun?

“Santa likes to kick back and watch Kansas City Chiefs football, and sometimes play some touch football with the elves. Santa’s getting too old for tackle.”

What is something people might not know about Santa?
