Ladies lose to Silex, 47-28
It is over, the winter sun has set on the 2020-21 Sturgeon Lady Bulldogs basketball season.
They hosted the Silex Lady Owls for some Saturday afternoon basketball, and though they leaped to an early 4-0 lead, Sturgeon could not keep the momentum.
Silex scoring four first quarter three-point shots help them take the lead from Sturgeon and keep it.
By the end of the first Silex was up 11-4 and still had the lead at halftime, 26-14.
Sturgeon fought to within six at times, but Silex led by 10 at the end of the third quarter, 36-26.
As the game wore down, Silex pulled ahead, 47-28.
“There was a lot of pressure weighing on them,” Sturgeon Head Coach Dan Kruse said, “worrying, can you make the shot, should you try the shot?”
Nicole Vanlandingham led Sturgeon with eight points, followed by Brooklyn Dougherty with six and Kathryn Dothage with four.
Lexi Plackemeier led Silex, and the game, with 20.
Sturgeon finished the season 4-9.
