There is a new pair of hands on the steering wheel at Centralia City Hall.
Tara Strain, formerly Centralia City Clerk, has been promoted to Centralia city administrator.
The decision was made in closed session the evening of August 15 as the culmination of a several-weeks long search process, that went from an estimated 40 applications, to 18 reviewed applications to four candidates interviewed.
Strain, who has served as city clerk since August 2018, previously worked for the Boone County Sheriff Office as a warrant supervisor and an emergency dispatcher for the Monroe County 911 Center.
Ward II Alderman and chair of the city’s Public Works and Public Utilities Committee, said the aldermen had made a good pick, choosing Strain over the other two finalists.
