Advance up the bracket after beating Silex 53-40
Sturgeon played hard and earned their spot on the next rung of the Class II, District 5 basketball tournament, held February 19-29 at Sturgeon High School.
The Bulldogs won the game, though they fought back and fourth for the lead in the first half.
At the end of the first Sturgeon led 15-14, at halftime Silex led, 25-22.
By the end of the third, Sturgeon was in control, 40-31 and they charged to thier 53-40 win from there.
Ben Doss led Sturgeon with 16 points, followed by Blake Darwent with 13 and Isaac Bolles with 11.
Tyler Twellman led Silex with 16.
Sturgeon plays Clopton at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday Sturgeon High School. If they win, they play for the championship, 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26.
