Concerned citizens are calling for help.

The decade old Sturgeon food pantry, housed in the Sturgeon Methodist Church and supported by members of the Sturgeon Ministerial Alliance is at a crucial turning point.

Reverend Mike Will of the Sturgeon Methodist Church and Pastor Paul Young, former pastor of the Sturgeon Baptist Church, are moving, Young to another church, Will, into retirement.

Many consider them the pantry’s heart and soul, though both would humbly disagree.

Nevertheless, decisions need to be made, Will said, regarding the pantry’s future.

With that, supporters have scheduled a public meeting 9 a.m., Monday, April 25 at the Sturgeon Christian Church.

Will said they will discuss, among other things, how to fill his and Young’s roles in the project. “Please come next Monday, this is important for the community.”

Will estimated the pantry, which distributes food the first and third Saturdays of every month, serves approximately 250 area families.
