Sue Parker Austene Wright

Sue Parker Austene Wright, 85, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

Sue was born October 26, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri to Ben and Nannie Austene. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Pat Doak (Doug) and Nancy Pantoga, and her brother, Alan Austene (Pat).  She is survived by her husband, Pat Wright of Columbia, her two sons from her first marriage, Brent Fadler (Valorie) of Centralia and Scott Fadler (Penny) of Hallsville, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sue grew up in Hallsville and attended Hallsville Schools.  She graduated in 1956 as Valedictorian.  She also played forward on the girls’ high school basketball team.  She attended Christian College and graduated in 1958 with an associate degree in Office Management.  She married Pat Wright on June 19, 1980, and they lived in Houston, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri.  She had a very successful career with 4site Development, Paine Webber and UBS.  Sue and Pat retired to Columbia in 1998.  In Columbia, she belonged to the Country Club of Missouri, Hallsville Historical Society and the First Christian Church.  She was an avid golfer and very active in church.  Her main hobby was shopping.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.   Her final few years were dominated by Alzheimer’s.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1601 E Broadway #245, Columbia, MO 65201.

A Celebration of Life will be planned in the future.  Sue was cremated and her ashes will be inurned at Columbia Cemetery next to her family.
