Vivian “Jean” Toalson

Vivian “Jean” Toalson, 83, Centralia, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, in her home surrounded by loved ones.

A Life Celebration for Jean will be held at a later date.

She was born October 18, 1939, in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Wilson Burks and Pauline (Jennings) Burks.

She will be missed beyond measure by her life partner John Switzer, Columbia, MO; Daughter Ronna (Toalson) Chrisman and son-in-law, Tim Chrisman, Centralia, MO; Granddaughter, Kylee (Chrisman) Motley and grandson-in-law, Zachary Motley, Centralia, MO; Grandson, Daniel Switzer and partner Shawn Watson Portland, OR; Grandson, Sam Switzer, Baton Rouge, LA; her special cat, Mazie and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends she adored.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, stepfather, George Herring, her mother; brothers, Frank Burks, and George Burks and sister, Jane Lee

Jean was a loving partner, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. To know her was to love her. She never met a stranger and always knew how to make you laugh. Jean loved to tell people she worked as a stripper for several years to see their reaction and would then proceed to explain she worked as a stripper, stripping negative film for the University of Missouri Imaging.

She loved to travel and had visited many cities and states. Jean enjoyed going to casinos, barbecue cookouts, chasing her grandkids around from ball games to plays, and cuddling her cat, Mazie. Jean was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She also loved playing card games, and spending time with her family and friends. She would give you the shirt off her back if someone needed it, which came to no surprise to her loved ones when she chose to donate her body to science. Even after she passed, she will continue to help others by being a part of medical advancements.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home 104 S. Collier St. Centralia, MO 65240.
